The study programme “Textile and Clothing Technology” is implemented by the Department of Clothing and Textile Technologies of the Institute of Technology and Design of Textile Materials of the Faculty of Materials Science and Applied Chemistry, Riga Technical University (RTU). The study programme has been developed on the basis of the engineering study programme “Textile and Clothing Technology” by expanding the specialization possibilities according to market demand. The study programme has been implemented since 2007. The study programme foresees the opportunity of specializing in one of the four study directions – textile technology, apparel technology, apparel designing or textile and apparel consumer science. The aims are the following: to educate and train highly qualified specialists in textile and apparel production industry, who are able to use basic modern technologies and specialized designing methods; to ensure the implementation of integrated engineering bachelor study programme that provides a unified technical engineering qualification and basics of the materials science of the textile industry with the opportunity of choosing one of the four specialization directions.
