The program provides university courses in three main areas (a) English linguistics (grammar and other fields), (b) British and American literature and (c) British and American cultural studies. All parts of the program contain a number of courses which the students can choose from. Although there is some space for individual specialization, all areas of the field of study have to be covered to some minimal extent. Apart from the above-mentioned fields, students can attend optional courses in English for special purposes, translation/interpreting (requiring a working knowledge of Czech), etc. Graduates of the single program have to study the field in more detail and can specialize more, based on their individual preferences, non only in philological disciplines but also in translation and interpreting.
