📚 About the Program

The Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (Single‑Cycle) at the University of Messina, known as UniMeIMS, offers an integrated six‑year pathway to become a fully qualified medical doctor. Delivered entirely in English, the programme combines rigorous scientific theory with extensive clinical practice, preparing graduates for health‑care roles in Italy and worldwide. Tuition is €2,166.43 per year, and admission is secured through the competitive International Medical Admission Test (IMAT), which standardises entry across Italian medical schools.

Throughout the six years, students accumulate 360 ECTS credits, with at least 60 dedicated to hands‑on training. Early semesters focus on foundational subjects such as Medical Physics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, and Human Anatomy. From the third year onward, clinical rotations take place primarily in the G. Martino University Hospital’s operative units, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge to real patient care under expert supervision. Additional placements in General Practitioner offices broaden exposure to community health settings.

The curriculum emphasises critical decision‑making, research methodology, and lifelong learning, ensuring graduates are not only competent clinicians but also contributors to medical science. A modest application fee of €17.63 and a service fee of €100 complete the enrolment requirements. Upon graduation, students receive a recognised medical degree that opens pathways to residency programmes, specialist training, or immediate practice in diverse health‑care environments.
