The Korean language & culture education major aims at fostering professionals and educators who will contribute to dissemination of Korean language and culture around the world, by developing the potential of students who grew up in various language and cultural backgrounds and can communicate in foreign languages. The curriculum of the major is comprised of the courses designated by the “Framework Act on the Korean Language”, while the Korean Language Teacher’s Certificate is provided upon completion of the courses. The curriculum is inclusive of Korean linguistics for improvement in understanding of the Korean language, linguistics that focus on general linguistics phenomena, teaching Korean as a foreign language education which deals with educational contents and teaching methods needed for educating Korean as a second language, Korean culture that intends to obtain cultural knowledge needed for Korean language education, and teaching practice for adaptation to the actual training site. Through this, we are hoping to foster professionals that have both theoretical knowledge and practical capability in Korean language and culture education.
