📚 About the Program

Bioinformatics is an emerging, interdisciplinary field of study aimed at understanding and inferring meaning from scientific “Big Data”. To meet this rapid development, the Clinical Bioinformatics Ontario Graduate Certificate program was created - firmly grounded in theory, hands-on skills and application. You will learn to perform data mining, analyze scientific data, develop treatment plans and monitor trends presented in genetic data. You will also learn to develop methodologies and hypotheses within the medical informatics, computational biology and medical technology fields. Students acquire expertise to utilize current bioinformatics software in order to manage large genetic databases to research the pathology of diseases and develop treatment hypotheses. This program also introduces students to the rapidly evolving fields of genomics and proteomics, and provides a core knowledge of analytical approaches used in these fields. Students will receive essential training in the use of industry-based software for biological data analysis including identification and evaluation of disease/disorder associated biomarkers and determination of therapeutic efficacy of drugs.
