Development Economics Course

The Development Economics Course, sponsored by the IZA/FCDO Programme, runs from January 15 to March 18, 2024. This online course is designed for undergraduate students, but graduate students and professionals from public and private sectors are also welcome. It aims to explore why people in different countries experience varying standards of living, making the latest research in economics accessible to all curious minds. The course is free and conducted in English, making it an excellent opportunity for residents of African and Asian countries.

Over the course of 10 weeks, participants will engage in weekly one-hour lectures and tutorials. The lectures will be delivered live via Zoom in the first and last weeks, while the remaining weeks will feature pre-recorded sessions. Tutorials will be interactive, allowing students to collaborate in small groups. Participants can expect to dedicate 2 to 8 hours weekly to readings and problem sets, enhancing their understanding of economic principles and research methodologies.

Graduates of this course can pursue various roles in economics, research, and policy analysis. Potential job titles include Economic Analyst, Research Assistant, Policy Advisor, and Development Consultant. Employers may range from governmental organizations to NGOs and academic institutions.
