Electrical and Electronics Engineering studies how electrical energy is generated, transmitted, and controlled, alongside the design of electronic circuits and devices found in everything from power grids to consumer electronics. The curriculum includes circuit theory, electromagnetics, power systems, control systems, and analog and digital electronics, building toward more specialized coursework in areas such as telecommunications or microelectronics. Students learn to design and analyze circuits, work with sensors and actuators, and understand the principles behind power generation and distribution at both large and small scales. Extensive laboratory work allows students to build and test circuits, program microcontrollers, and use measurement equipment, reinforcing the theory covered in lectures with hands-on practice. Mathematics coursework in calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra underpins the technical modeling used throughout the program, since much of electrical engineering relies on solving equations that describe circuit and system behavior. Many programs also introduce students to renewable energy systems and automation, reflecting how the electrical engineering field has expanded alongside changes in energy generation and industrial control. Graduates find roles in power utilities, telecommunications companies, electronics manufacturers, and automation and control system firms, working as design engineers, systems engineers, or maintenance and reliability specialists. The broad technical foundation also supports careers in robotics and industrial automation. This bachelor's program is taught in English over 4 years at Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon, Turkey. Studying in English gives students direct access to the international technical standards and reference literature widely used in the electrical and electronics field. The four-year curriculum progresses from foundational circuit and physics coursework toward specialized power, control, or communications coursework in later semesters.
