About the Program

The International Summer Program at Seoul National University (SNU ISP) is a non-degree, English-taught program held on the university's Gwanak-gu campus in South Korea. The program is organized as a five-week session running from June twenty-second to July twenty-sixth, and gives international students the chance to take short-term coursework alongside Korean language and cultural classes. According to the program's own description, the curriculum spans East Asia Studies, Business and Economics, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences, in addition to Korean language and cultural courses, allowing participants to sample a range of academic fields rather than committing to a single discipline for a full term. Courses in East Asia Studies typically examine the region's history, politics, and society, while Business and Economics offerings cover topics such as markets, management, and the economic development of Korea and its neighbors. Social Sciences classes may address sociology, psychology, or international relations, and Natural Sciences courses introduce foundational concepts across fields such as biology, chemistry, or environmental studies. Korean language classes give participants practical speaking and listening skills alongside grammar instruction, while cultural courses expose students to Korean traditions, food, and daily life. Because the program is short in duration, it is commonly taken by university students seeking academic credit over a summer break, or by those exploring Korea as a possible destination for longer-term study. Annual tuition for the program is listed at 3300 USD. As an English-taught program, students are able to follow lectures and complete coursework without needing prior Korean language proficiency, though the inclusion of Korean language classes offers an introduction for those who wish to begin developing that skill during their time on campus.
