Master in International Trade

International Trade at Sogang University's Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) focuses on the movement of goods, services, and capital across national borders, along with the policies and institutions that govern that movement. Students typically study international trade theory, trade law and policy, global supply chains, trade finance, and the economics of regional and multilateral trade agreements, developing skills relevant to careers in trade policy, logistics, export management, and international business consulting. The program also considers how trade interacts with development, industrial policy, and geopolitics, which is useful preparation for work with government trade ministries, chambers of commerce, multinational firms, and international organizations that negotiate or monitor trade rules. The program is hosted at Sogang University in Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea, and is offered as a master's degree lasting two years within GSIS, admitting new students in March and September of every year. Instruction takes place entirely in English, which lets an internationally mixed cohort study Korean and global trade patterns together and pursue careers that require English-language fluency in trade documentation and negotiation. Because GSIS combines trade studies with broader international affairs training, students also gain exposure to diplomacy, area studies, and comparative economic policy, helping them understand trade decisions in their political context.
