About the Program

Sogang University offers a master's program in International Trade through its Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS), examining how countries and firms exchange goods and services and the rules that shape that exchange. Coursework generally addresses trade theory, international trade law, customs and logistics, trade negotiation, and the economics of tariffs and trade agreements, preparing students for roles in export and import management, trade compliance, supply chain planning, and policy analysis. The program also connects trade issues to broader questions of economic development and international relations, which suits students aiming for positions with trade promotion agencies, multinational corporations, or research institutions studying global commerce. Based at Sogang University in Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea, the program runs as a two-year master's degree within GSIS, with new cohorts starting in March and September of every year. Classes are conducted in English, so international students can study Korean and global trade practices side by side and communicate confidently in the language most commonly used in international business. The GSIS environment also exposes trade students to coursework in diplomacy, regional studies, and international economics, giving them a wider view of how political relationships and trade policy intersect. Many graduates pursue careers as trade analysts, logistics managers, customs consultants, or policy advisors, applying both technical trade knowledge and an understanding of the international context in which trade agreements are negotiated and enforced, whether working for private companies, government agencies, or international bodies focused on commerce and development.
