Knowledge and Skills for Dementia Care: the SSLD Approach

The Knowledge and Skills for Dementia Care program is for students who want to learn about dementia care. This non-degree program is offered in English and can be completed online in a few weeks. Its main advantage is that it helps students develop skills to care for people with dementia.

The program teaches students about the SSLD approach to dementia care. Students learn about the skills and knowledge needed to care for people with dementia, including how to communicate with them and how to help them with daily tasks. The program also includes hands-on components to help students practice their skills.

Students who complete this program can go on to work as Dementia Care Specialists, Care Coordinators, or Support Workers. They can work in nursing homes, hospitals, or community organizations that care for people with dementia. Other potential job titles include Activity Coordinators or Family Support Workers.
