The Master of Education (M.Ed.) is a two-year research-based program designed for those aspiring to become educators or advance their careers in education. It equips individuals with innovative skills needed in today’s evolving learning landscape and aligns with the demands of the knowledge-based economy. Our Education Master’s program caters to working adults, focusing on relevant issues for them and their institutions. It stands apart by requiring just three research modules for a master’s qualification, offering flexibility in diverse research areas like Outcome based Education (OBE) curriculum, technology, active learning, early childhood education, remote learning, open and distance learning (ODL), learner life cycle management, life-long learning, experiential learning, accreditation, internationalization of education and student mobility, credit based learning and massive open online courses (MOOC). Our program provides 24/7 online access to learning materials and library resources, enabling learners to study at their convenience. Professors offer guidance as needed. Geared towards experienced professionals, our online master’s sees applicants aged 26 to 45, completing the program in around 24 months on average.

Manipal GlobalNxt University is a private, online-focused institution, part of the Manipal Education and Medical Group. It was established in 2001 and has gained recognition for delivering globally relevant, flexible higher education programs through a digital platform. The university offers a wide range of courses in business administration, technology, and health sciences, catering to working professionals and students seeking flexible learning options. GlobalNxt University began in 2001 as U21Global, a joint venture between the Universitas 21 network of research universities and Thomson Learning, based in Singapore. The Manipal Education and Medical Group took a stake in 2007, and in 2012 the university relocated to Kuala Lumpur under Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education, becoming GlobalNxt University. It traded as Manipal GlobalNxt University from 2018 until May 2025, when the ministry approved a return to its original name.

How tuition and accreditation work

All of GlobalNxt's programmes are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, and the university holds a full licence from Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education. It is listed in the World Higher Education Database maintained by the International Association of Universities under UNESCO, and its qualifications are recognised by World Education Services and the International Qualifications Assessment Service for study or work abroad. Fees are quoted for the whole programme rather than per year: the Open and Distance Learning MBA costs USD 4,650 in total, the on-campus MBA USD 8,850, and the on-campus BBA USD 13,450.

Kuala Lumpur

GlobalNxt is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur and teaches most of its 17 programmes here through Open and Distance Learning, alongside a smaller on-campus track for its BBA and MBA. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, AACSB and EFMD, three of the more selective networks in business education, alongside its national accreditations.
