Masters in Physiotherapy from Laval University is a two-year program designed to enable students to become highly qualified practitioners of physiotherapy. It consists of a sequence of courses that provide the theoretical, practical, and professional knowledge required for the development of the skills necessary for competent practice in the field. The program is divided into four semesters, with each semester offering a different focus of study. In the first semester, courses focus on the science of physiotherapy, including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and pharmacology. The second semester focuses on clinical practice and therapeutic techniques, such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and therapeutic modalities. In the third semester, students learn how to apply their knowledge to a variety of clinical scenarios and begin to develop their clinical skills. The fourth semester is dedicated to the completion of a research project. During the program, students are exposed to the most current evidence-based practice, practice with real patients under the supervision of experienced therapists, and engage in supervised fieldwork in a variety of settings. Upon graduation, graduates receive a diploma in Physiotherapy and are eligible to take the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) national exam in order to become certified physiotherapists.
