Bahçeşehir University

Bachelor in Medicine

İstanbul, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Medicine trains students to understand the human body in health and disease and to apply that knowledge to diagnosing and treating patients. Early coursework generally covers anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and pharmacology, while later years shift toward pathology, clinical skills training, and rotations through hospital departments such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry. Throughout the program, students build clinical reasoning skills, learning to gather patient information, order and interpret tests, and formulate diagnoses and treatment plans under close supervision. After completing the degree, graduates enter postgraduate residency training in a chosen specialty before independent practice, and some go on to careers combining clinical work with research or teaching. This medical program is delivered in English over 6 years at Bahçeşehir University in İstanbul, Turkey, a duration consistent with the combined preclinical and clinical structure typical of medical degrees. Students generally spend the initial years in classroom, laboratory, and small-group instruction before transitioning to supervised clinical placements in hospital settings. İstanbul's substantial hospital network provides a wide range of clinical departments and patient populations for training purposes. Case-based learning, simulation, and hands-on clinical practice under supervision are common features of medical education programs of this type.
