📚 About the Program

The secondary education support certificate is offered by the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) in association, under the memorandum of understanding, with the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, (UQTR), the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi (UQAC), the University of Quebec in Outaouais (UQO) and the University TÉLUQ. Students from these institutions will be able to complete this program entirely remotely. It is mainly aimed at supply staff who have not been trained in teaching at the secondary level. It should be noted that this certificate does not replace the baccalaureate or master's degree in teaching allowing access to the patent. Program Objectives General objectives The objective of the certificate is to prepare substitutes able to intervene with secondary school students. More specifically, the training aims not only to provide students with basic knowledge to better understand the issues of the pedagogical reform in education, but also to allow them to develop tools that will enable them to act appropriately on the professional level. Some course courses are taken from UQAT's bachelor's degree programs in secondary education and from the academic heritage of the universities participating in the MEES' unique project. That being said, most courses have been developed specifically for the certificate project. People wishing to possibly continue in the bachelor's program in secondary education and whose application for admission has been accepted by the management of the Educational Sciences Module may possibly be granted credits taken in this training according to the accepted equivalences. . Specific objectives The specific objectives of the certificate are as follows: know the pedagogical, didactic and andragogical foundations at the heart of the current pedagogical renewal; identify assumptions and strategies that promote learning for all students; acquire professional knowledge to facilitate intervention with students with adjustment difficulties; identify the cognitive and socio-emotional aspects of adolescent development and their links to learning; deepen their knowledge of first language concepts and language development, mathematics, science and technology; improve their knowledge of the written language; develop effective and efficient strategies to act with students.
