Supported Internships

The Supported Internships program at Harlow College is designed for young people aged 18-24 who require additional support to transition into the workforce. This full-time program runs for one year, starting in September 2026, and combines classroom learning with practical work placements. Students will spend one day a week in college and up to four days at a designated placement, allowing them to gain valuable experience in a real-world setting.

Throughout the program, students will focus on developing essential skills such as English and Maths, employability skills, and personal development. The curriculum includes targeted support from a Lead Teacher and job coaches, ensuring that each student receives the guidance they need to succeed. The program aims to prepare students for future employment by providing them with the skills, knowledge, and behaviors necessary to thrive in the workplace.

Graduates of the Supported Internships program will be well-equipped to pursue various job roles in different industries. They may find opportunities in healthcare, hospitality, retail, and more. The skills gained during the program are transferable, allowing graduates to adapt to various job markets. This program not only focuses on job readiness but also encourages students to explore different roles and apply for positions throughout their time in the course.
