Build the foundation to work with learners from diverse linguistic, educational, and ethnic backgrounds and become certified as a teacher of English as a second language in New Jersey. Our fully accredited, 15-credit program emphasizes language, literacy, applied linguistics, and second-language teaching approaches, with hands-on preparation for teaching at different levels. Courses are offered in a hybrid format; most classes run from 5–7:30 p.m. weekly on a weekday evening. This program is ideal if you already have your teaching license (New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing, standard certification, or the equivalent of standard licensure from outside of New Jersey) and want to be certified to teach English as a second language.
