National Pingtung University of Science and Technology’s vast and beautiful 298-hectare campus has earned it the reputation of “national park university” and with a commitment to caring for the environment, NPUST has ranked first in Taiwan on the UI GreenMetric University Ranking seven years in row— and in Asia, in 2020. The arrangement and construction of each campus building were based upon the topography of the campus landscape. The campus is impressively gorgeous, like a natural park possessing countryside characteristics with vast views, picturesque scenery, and a peaceful atmosphere. It is also an ideal place for the faculty to teach and conduct research.

NPUST is a science and technology institution with a long history of more than 80 years. To fulfill the mission of professional education, the Office of Research and Development (ORD) of the university promotes basic research on campus. It encourages our faculty to be involved in industry-academia collaboration. To carry out a variety of services for industry-academia collaboration, we have set up several specialized research centers at the university level or college level on campus and established various technological service centers in academic departments or graduate institutes.

As part of our university R&D policy, the ORD is actively involved in implementing "product-oriented research (POR)." The goal is to devote our faculty's research to meet the industry's needs and the market. The ORD acts as an intermediate between university faculty and industry through the platforms of "patent portfolio," "patent protection," "industry-academia collaboration," and "innovation and incubation," The ORD delivers quintessential academic research to the industry under the conditions of safety, dignity, legitimacy, convenience, and reciprocity to manifest the benefits of intellectual property and assist the industry in their business continuity.
