About the Program

The Bioproduct Technology program trains engineers to work with bio-based materials, sustainable production processes, and the conversion of biomass into products such as biofuels, biochemicals, and bio-based materials. Students develop understanding of the chemical and biochemical reactions involved in these processes, along with the separation and purification methods used in manufacturing. The program also covers laboratory techniques used in bioproduct production, research, and development, as well as the business fundamentals relevant to the bioproduct industry. Students are equipped to identify problems, develop innovations, and apply their technical skills across various positions in bioproduct companies and research institutions. Starting in September 2026, the program runs for 4 years at South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences Xamk in Savonlinna, Finland.
