About the Program

The Master of Science in Physics (Applied and Engineering Physics) at the Technical University of Munich is a four-semester graduate programme offered by the School of Natural Sciences. It covers a broad spectrum of modern physics, including particle detectors, science of light, nanosciences, soft matter science, applied solid state physics, medical engineering, and energy sciences. Special courses in each semester reflect active research directions at the Department of Physics, and elective courses from informatics, chemistry, and electrical or mechanical engineering allow students to build an individual profile. The curriculum is shaped by the programme's location on TUM Campus Garching, which is closely connected to several Max Planck Institutes and other research centres. The programme is divided into two years. The first year covers advanced and specialised lectures, laboratory courses, and seminars.
