Supply Chain Course Description
SCM 3100 PROCUREMENT & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (3)
Prerequisite(s): INSY 3200
The objective of this course is to introduce you to the key concepts and techniques that will allow you to
analyze, manage and improve supply chain processes for different industries and markets. At completion of
this course you will have the skills to assess supply chain performance and make recommendations to
increase supply chain competitiveness.

SCM 3200 LOGISTICS & TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT (3)
Prerequisite(s): INSY 3200
This course presents core knowledge related to the areas of Transportation. Logistics and Distribution (TLD)
management within supply chain operations. It provides deep insight into the key functional areas and
complex activities required with moving goods through the supply chain from manufacturing to the end
customer. Particular focus will include apparel distribution, operations servicing large retail customers,
domestic and global transportation, and services meeting end-consumer requirements.

SCM 3300 INVENTORY MANAGEMENT (3)
Prerequisite(s): SCM 3100
This course provides students with an understanding of the principles, processes, and methods for the
effective management of inventory. Emphasis is placed on the relationships of inventory and warehouse
management to customer service and profitability of the wholesale distributor. Focuses on the role of
computerized systems and resulting information for effective management of inventory and the warehouse
under various conditions.

SCM 4100 SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT APPLICATIONS (3)
Prerequisite(s): SCM 3300
This course teaches supply chain management business processes and how commercially available software
applications such as SAP ERP and Advanced Planner & Optimizer (APO) support those business processes.
This software is used in lab exercises that provide students with credible hands-on experiential learning
experience. The focus is on the supply planning function of supply chain management. Topics include:
introduction to ERP and SAP, SAP navigation techniques, master and transaction data, demand
management, MRP, forecasting, and supply network planning.

SCM 4200 QUALITY MANAGEMENT (3)
Prerequisite(s): SCM 3300
This course is designed to provide a framework for organizing and managing a continuous quality
improvement program. Advanced operations management approaches to quality; process and productivity
improvement in manufacturing, and service and government organizations; use of case studies, exercises,
and/or term projects to show application of management and quantitative concepts.

SCM 4300 GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (3)
Prerequisite(s): SCM 3300
This course covers the international transportation of goods by cost-effective methods through analysis of the
structure of ocean transport systems in global distribution and single-factor pricing of combination carrier
shipments. Other topics include costing of transport services, freight rate negotiation, rate bureaus, carrier
associations, prudent use of independent liners, foreign government regulations, U.S. maritime law, policy,
and antitrust provisions, ramifications of the Liner Conduct and related bilateral trade agreements.
