📖Program Curriculum
Year 1
The first year is the introductory (propadeutic) year
Year one in the three-year accelerated programme is the introductory year (propadeutic year). The first year brings everyone up to the same speed in modules that you’ve probably already covered in your final years of secondary education during a Dutch pre-university level (VWO), or a similar foreign diploma.
The first two semesters in year one, will give you the theoretical basis you need to understand international business in its various forms.
Year 2
In years two and three, you’ll build on the knowledge and practical skills you gained in the first year. Not only will you gain a deeper understandings of subjects, you’ll add new skills to your business management tool kit.
IB works closely with a Business Advisory Council, a committee of international business professionals, alumni and industry experts to evaluate and update the curriculum.
Year 3
It’s year of the daunting thesis! Well, that might be the case if you were to write a 30,000-word masterpiece on a boring subject. But what if we told you that your thesis could possibly save an SME or international company thousands of Euros? And what if your thesis can land you a well-paid job after graduation? On IB, most students write their thesis about their internship company. One student analysed the Dutch consumer market to see if it was ready for Tom’s of Maine’s natural toothpaste. Another student researched RealeGroup’s cybercrime insurance market potential in Turin. Other graduates have landed themselves jobs at Karl Lagerfeld, Nike, BlueLynx, BMW and Boston Consulting Group on the strength of their final thesis.
Specializations
Our students are offered four specializations to choose from. Having gained expertise in one of these, our graduates often become generalists with a wide range of duties in small and medium-sized companies. In larger, internationally operating companies or multinationals, they often have a more specialist role; listed opposite are the specializations offered at IB THUAS and examples of roles in the different functional areas that our graduates help fulfil.
Below are links to videos in which our lecturers describe the specialisations in more detail.
Specialization: People & Organisation - Draft the strategic cycle for parts of the organization in terms of process and content. Assess the impact of change on the organization.
Specialization: Finance & Accounting - Evaluate the financial performance of organisations from the perspective of different stakeholders. Recommend financing possibilities in a dynamic international environment.
Specialization: Operations & Supply Chain - Evaluate and manage the operations processes within and between organisations.
Specialization: Marketing & Sales - Develop a well-founded marketing plan to support the creation of value for international customers. Use appropriate sales techniques in support of durable customer relationships. Incorporate developments of the digital landscape in a marketing strategy.
