Bachelor’s in Global Law at Tilburg University

A new way of learning law. Global Law combines insights from multiple legal systems - transcending the limits and solutions of one judicial system or national law. With a university degree, you might be eligible for the fast track program.

📖Program Curriculum

The program teaches all of the main legal topics found in traditional legal education, such as contract law, tort law, criminal law, administrative law, property law, and constitutional law. What makes Global Law unique, however, is that these topics are approached from a global perspective. Our curriculum is designed to prepare you for legal work in settings where multiple legal systems come together.

Year 1 Courses
In the first year, you become familiar with law through courses such as History of International Law and Tort Law. The first year also has an interdisciplinary component, which helps you to develop the skills needed to collaborate with experts from other, non-legal disciplines, such as Business for Lawyers.

You will take the following courses in the first semester:
Introduction to Global Law I
Introduction to the philosophy of Global Law
History of International Law
Constitutional Law
Methods and Techniques
Linguistic and Argumentation Skills I
And these courses in the second semester:
Criminal Law
Introduction to Global Law II
Tort Law

Year 2 Courses

In the second year, you will expand your legal knowledge with courses such as Public International Law and Corporate Law. In addition, you will take courses to expand your horizons into non-legal disciplines: Criminology and Criminal Justice and Law, Technology and Society.

You will take the following courses in the first semester:

In the third year, you can customize your program with several options. You will conclude your studies with a Bachelor’s thesis.

Study abroad: going on exchange
We encourage all students to gain international experience. A popular and very exiting option is to go abroad on exchange. As an exchange student, you study at one of the many international partner universities of Tilburg University, typically for one semester.

The Study Abroad & Exchange Office of Tilburg University will be available to help you research the opportunities within your study program and a dedicated Study Abroad & Exchange Coordinator will be advising you before, during and after your exchange.

Most students will be eligible for a grant or scholarship to financially support them during their exchange experience. Additional grants for students with special needs or a difficult financial situation are also available.

Entry Requirements

You are not eligible to apply to this program because:

The minimum age is 18.

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
- Having an English certificate such as IELTS level 6 or TOEFL 95 and above is an advantage.

Minimum education level: High School.

The program is competitive, you need to have a high grades of Average A, 70%, or a high GPA.

Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
