Bachelor’s in History at University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle

The study of History helps us to comprehend the complexities of the world today. The Bachelor of Arts with a Major in History allows students to reach an understanding of the historical events, politics, conflicts, cultures, values and traditions which have shaped the modern world. The History Major allows you to reach an understanding of the historical events, politics, conflicts, cultures, values and traditions which have shaped our modern world. It provides highly relevant and transferable skills, including the ability to research, analyse and communicate effectively. This Major also gives you the opportunities to consider such diverse periods and themes as western civilisation, the ancient and medieval worlds, the modern Middle East and Southeast Asia, America in the 1960s, the history of crime, art history and visual evidence. History is regularly combined with Archaeology, Politics and International Relations, Social Justice, Journalism, and English Literature. It is also popular with students who are completing double degrees in Education and Law. Structure of Major
Students are required to complete 8 courses of 25 units of credit (200 units of credit), as follows.

LEVEL ONE: FOUNDATION LEARNING

LEVEL TWO: EXTENDED LEARNING

Students may complete ANY of the following courses:

HIST2004 Of Vice and Virtue: Social Change in Victorian Britain
HIST2008 The Caesars
HIST2009 The Kennedys: America in the 1960s
HIST2016 A History of Crime: Assessing the Evidence
HIST2026 The European Middle Ages, c.450 – c. 1250
HIST2021 History and Politics of Southeast Asia
HIST2022 The Modern Middle East
HIST2024 The Tudors
HIST2028 Visual Evidence: Art and artefacts of the Western Tradition
HIST2029 Nazi Germany: Assessing the Evidence
LEVEL THREE: ADVANCED LEARNING

Students must complete AT LEAST TWO of the following courses in their final year of study:
HIST3008 History Internship
HIST3016 A History of Crime: Assessing the Evidence
HIST3028 Visual Evidence: Art and Artefacts of the Western Tradition
HIST3029 Nazi Germany: Assessing the Evidence
*Please note that students may not enrol into those courses which they have completed at Level Two (eg: completion of HIST2000 precludes enrolment into HIST3000).

Students may complete other courses on approval of the Dean, and if available, to a total of 50 units of credit:
ARTS3010 Experience the World I
ARTS3030 Experience the World Study Tour (50 units of credit)
ARTS3800 Special Project

Entry Requirements

You are not eligible to apply to this program because:

The minimum age is 18.

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
- Having an English certificate such as IELTS level 6 or TOEFL 95 and above is an advantage.

Minimum education level: High School.

The program is quite competitive, you need to have a high grades of Average B, 60%, or a high GPA.

Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
