The University of Twente is a public technical university located in Enschede, Netherlands. The university has been placed in the top 170 universities in the world by multiple central ranking tables. In addition, the UT was ranked the best technical university in The Netherlands by Keuzegids Universiteiten, the most significant national university ranking. The UT collaborates with Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology and the Wageningen University and Research Centre under the umbrella of 4TU and is also a partner in the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU).

Sixty years of High Tech Human Touch: the University of Twente, which at its founding in 1961 was still called the Twente Technological University of Applied Sciences (in Dutch: THT Technische Hogeschool Twente), managed to distinguish itself early on by integrating technology with the social sciences. 📚About the Program

Master’s in Industrial Design Engineering at University of Twente

This two-year, English-taught Master’s enables you to become a ‘designeer’, an industrial design engineer who does not only know how to design and engineer a (part of a) product, but goes beyond that. With in-depth, scientific insights, you will learn to oversee the whole design and engineering process and know how to continuously develop and improve the products and the processes involved. 📖Program Curriculum

In two years of study, you will collect 120 EC. 75 EC consists of courses and you will earn the remaining 45 EC in completing your master’s thesis. What your curriculum looks like, depends on the choices you make in composing your Master’s. There are two steps in doing so.

European Credit Transfer System
Student workload at Dutch universities is expressed in EC, also named ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), which is widely used throughout the European Union. In the Netherlands, each credit represents 28 hours of work.

STEP 1: CHOOSE A MASTER’S TRACK
Before you start with your Master's, you need to choose a Master's track, in order to specialise within the field of Industrial Design Engineering. The Master’s in IDE has three tracks:

Emerging Technology Design (ETD)
Human Technology Relations (HTR)
Management of Product Development (MPD)
STEP 2: COMPOSE YOUR INDIVIDUAL STUDY PROGRAMME
After registering for your Master’s track, you will compose your own study programme, in consultation with your track coordinator. Each track contains a number of core courses and a master’s assignment that reflects the nature of the track. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to participate in a wider selection of Industrial Design Engineering courses and even electives beyond the programme, both inside and outside of the University of Twente!

You are not eligible to apply to this program because:

The minimum age is 18.

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied in English at high school or a degree
- Have passed IELTS level 6.5 or TOEFL 95 or above.

Minimum education level: Bachelor's.

The program is competitive, you need to have a high grades of Average A, 70%, or a high GPA.

Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
