📚About the Program

Non-degree in Mechanical and material engineering: University engineering education at Malmo University

Mechanical engineers play an important role in creating sustainable solutions in everything from solving simple everyday problems to meeting major societal challenges. The field of application is broad and nowadays includes much more than what is traditionally associated with the profession. It can be anything from the design and manufacture of intelligent medical devices and self-driving trucks to the design of modern manufacturing processes for industry. With its foundation in classical mechanical engineering, Mechanical and Materials Engineering is a higher education engineering course that deals with how different components, manufactured in different materials, resist the stresses that they will be exposed to during their lifetime. Special emphasis is placed on how wise material choices are made based on functional, economic and sustainability aspects. Within the education, particular focus is placed on how to build strong teams and effectively collaborate in projects and organizations. Teaching is supported by modern, digital aids; among other things to visualize and construct. To thrive, you should have an interest in mathematics and physics, as the education builds on your high school knowledge in these subjects. In several of the more basic courses, you will study together with students studying Product Development and Design. The program provides you with a stable and broad knowledge base and practical skills that prepare you well for various future engineering roles. There is a well-developed collaboration with business in the region and this means that the education is adapted to the needs of the labor market. The demand for skilled mechanical engineers is constantly growing. The labor market prospects are therefore very good for a long time to come. You have the opportunity to study abroad during the fifth semester. If you enjoy studying, after your degree you are well prepared to study further on a master's program at Malmö University or at another university in Sweden or internationally. Show less
