Investigating the complex interaction between PTEN and reactive lipid oxidation products, this PhD project explores the molecular mechanisms that drive tumorigenic cell signalling. By utilizing advanced liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MSMS), researchers will uncover how the redox-sensitive tumour suppressor PTEN is covalently modified during oxidative stress—a process known as lipoxidation—and how this impacts its localization, activity, and downstream signalling pathways like Akt and mTORC.

This doctoral programme is designed for students passionate about cancer cell biology and biochemistry who wish to contribute to a deeper understanding of how metabolic dysregulation in breast epithelial cells influences disease progression.
