FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do you convert GPA to a percentage?
Multiply your GPA by 25 — the standard US-side rule. So a 3.4 GPA = 3.4 × 25 = 85%.
What is the WES-aligned formula?
WES and similar credential evaluators sometimes use (GPA + 1.0) × 10. This curve is more generous at low GPAs and is used internally for some Indian transcript conversions. We display both so you can pick whichever matches your transcript.
How do I convert my GPA to an Indian 10-point CGPA?
Multiply your GPA by 2.5. So a 3.4 GPA = 3.4 × 2.5 = 8.5/10 CGPA. This is the inverse of the standard CGPA-to-GPA proportional formula.
Which formula will my target university actually use?
Most US schools accept either the proportional formula or the official WES report. UK and EU programs often use a different scale entirely (First-Class, 2:1, etc.). When in doubt, check the program's admissions FAQ.
What's a good GPA for an MS in the US?
Top-50 US programs are competitive at 3.5+ (≈87.5%); top-25 at 3.7+ (≈92.5%). Programs publish a class-average GPA for their admitted cohort — that's the truest benchmark.
