Catawba College

Catawba College’s 276-acre campus in Salisbury, North Carolina, places sustainability at the center of daily life. The college is carbon neutral and uses solar power for classrooms and electric-vehicle charging stations, along with geothermal energy to heat and cool the campus. Students can also take part in athletics, with 24 NCAA Division II teams, esports, intramurals, and more than 40 clubs and organizations.

The college began with a generous gift connected to its mission of service and has marked 100 years in Salisbury. That history continues through community involvement, including home-building projects, fundraisers for pregnancy support centers, and volunteer work. The campus combines academic spaces with opportunities to explore environmental questions, creative work, research, leadership, and service.

Academic options span more than 70 programs. Biology undergraduates can gain experience in the Graham Genomics Lab, while theatre arts students have opportunities to work with industry figures such as Guillermo del Toro. International business students join a program connected to the ClimateCAP Initiative. Nursing, environmental programs, liberal arts, business, and education are among the college’s stated areas of strength. International students should know that Catawba offers both classroom-based study and practical experiences through research, creative projects, service, clubs, and athletics.
