Chadron State College

Chadron State College’s story began when Chadron was selected as the site of Nebraska’s fourth State Normal School on January 8, 1910. The school occupied the grounds of the former Chadron Congregational Academy, and classes began in summer 1911. From that modest beginning, it developed into a comprehensive, multipurpose institution serving the intellectual, cultural, and recreational needs of western Nebraska.

Academic options span art, business, communication, counseling, education, English, family and consumer sciences, health, physical education and human performance, justice studies, mathematics, music, psychological sciences, rangeland, biology, pre-health professions, social science, social work, and theatre. Undergraduate and graduate programs are available in face-to-face and online formats. Graduate study includes athletic training, business, counseling, education, and organizational management. Recent academic developments include a fire management degree option within the rangeland program.

Located in Chadron in northwest Nebraska’s Pine Ridge region, the college combines academic exploration with opportunities to engage in campus life and regional activities.
