Ensign College is part of the Church Educational System, alongside institutions including Brigham Young University and BYU-Pathway Worldwide. Its mission combines learning by faith with preparation for responsible professional roles. Students develop capabilities in teamwork and leadership, communication, technical skills, problem-solving, and professionalism, with an emphasis on ethics, accountability, and service in homes, the Church, workplaces, and communities.
Academic options range from certificates lasting four months to one year, to two-year associate degrees and three- to four-year bachelor’s degrees. Associate of Science programs can support transfer, while Associate of Applied Science programs provide hands-on preparation for immediate career entry. Bachelor’s programs build knowledge and skills for professional careers or graduate school, and students can complete some degrees in three years. Programs are designed around career goals and include applied, hands-on classes. More than 1,800 companies recruit Ensign graduates. The college reports that 93% of bachelor’s graduates are employed within a year, with an average annual salary of $66,034.
The campus is in downtown Salt Lake City, two blocks from Temple Square. International applicants who require a student visa follow a separate admissions process and must complete an ecclesiastical endorsement, submit required documents, and provide transcripts and financial documents two weeks before the application deadline. Ensign uses holistic review. Students should also plan for religious study: associate and bachelor’s degrees require 8 and 14 religion credits, respectively, and every student is encouraged to take one religion course each semester.
