Set in Central Illinois, Eureka College has an intimate campus community where students participate across many parts of college life. Performances, recitals, presentations, games, clubs, service opportunities, leadership activities, and athletics shape the on-campus experience. The college has expanded its reach in the past decade to welcome students from surrounding states and abroad. International students can access orientation, housing options, career development, student resources, and international student services.
Academic programs are designed to balance required learning with the freedom to pursue intellectual interests and career goals. Eureka offers 33 majors, 20 minors, and 11 pre-professional programs, including pre-med and pre-law. Areas identified among its academic offerings include teacher education, nursing, business administration, kinesiology, psychology, and communications and media studies. Students can tailor their learning through the 10 Essentials approach, which focuses on essential skills while allowing individual choice. Every class is taught by faculty rather than teaching assistants.
Students come from Peoria, other small towns around Central Illinois, surrounding states, and abroad. Almost half of the student body are first-generation college students. The college supports involvement through organizations, Greek life, service opportunities, leadership, and fourteen Division III athletic teams. Student-athletes have combined classroom work and competition for more than 100 years. International students should also know that experiential learning and international travel are part of the Uniquely Eureka Advantage, alongside a tuition guarantee and a four-year-or-free promise.
