Fisk University

Fisk University’s Nashville campus brings together historic spaces, academic facilities, and a close-knit community. Jubilee Hall remains a visible part of campus life, while the John Hope and Aurelia E. Franklin Library serves as an academic hub with books, electronic resources, and more than 240,000 volumes. Fisk University Galleries maintain a permanent collection of more than 4,000 objects spanning three centuries of art history. Information technology services support learning through classroom technology, online tools, and help-desk assistance.

Academic work spans arts and humanities, behavioral and social sciences, life sciences, mathematics, computer science, business, and graduate studies. Students can pursue programs such as biology and political science, while the university also supports chemistry, music, research in biological signatures and sensing, and study connected to social justice. The Division of Academic Affairs oversees degree programs, faculty matters, the Registrar’s Office, the library, sponsored programs, and the John Lewis Center for Social Justice. Fisk’s academic tradition reaches back to 1866 and includes a long role in Black learning and culture in the United States.

International students join a community where fellow international and domestic students build connections and a sense of home. The university reports a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio and total enrollment above 1,000, suggesting an environment designed for direct contact with professors. Nashville provides the wider setting for campus life, while services such as academic technology, career planning, tutoring, student activities, and faculty support help students manage study and plan their next steps.
