Gratz College

Gratz College serves the Philadelphia area while delivering its degrees and certificates fully online. Its learning environment is designed for students balancing study with professional and personal commitments, with asynchronous courses available on demand. Learners join a community that includes students from 43 states and 11 countries, bringing varied backgrounds, affiliations, and professional experiences to their studies.

Founded in 1895, Gratz is the oldest independent and pluralistic college for Jewish studies in North America. From its beginning, it accepted women on equal terms with men. The college later expanded from training for educators and communal professionals to a broader set of credentials, including doctoral programs, an EdD, master's programs, BA completion programs, and graduate and undergraduate certificates.

Academic strengths include Jewish Studies, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, antisemitism studies, education, leadership, nonprofit work, research, and advocacy. Gratz offers online degrees and certificates at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, along with continuing education, professional development, dual enrollment, and language instruction for high school students. The Center for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights supports study in a central area of the college's work, while the Fellowship for Emerging Leaders and Grayzel Digital Platform extend opportunities for engagement. International students should know that Gratz's model is built around online participation, flexible scheduling, and accelerated eight-week terms rather than a traditional residential campus.
