St. Augustine College

St. Augustine College has a legacy of expanding educational opportunity for Chicago’s underserved, working-adult, first-generation, and bilingual communities. Its programs are designed around small classes, flexible schedules, personalized advice, and support from learning facilitators. Students can follow bilingual pathways, including the option to begin studies in Spanish and finish in English.

Academic strengths include professional programs in early childhood education, respiratory therapy, business administration, psychology, hospitality management, computer information systems, and social work. The BA in Early Childhood Education combines multilingual classes with student teaching in an early childhood classroom. The program prepares graduates to teach children from birth to age eight and includes coursework for English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education endorsements. Respiratory Therapy prepares students for work in hospitals, home care, and other health care environments. Business and technology programs connect liberal arts foundations with practical career skills.

Located in Chicago, the college offers a setting where students can study while working or managing family responsibilities. Internship opportunities provide hands-on experience with professionals in students’ chosen fields. International students should understand that the college serves people navigating new languages and cultures, with bilingual instruction and individualized support built into the student experience. Alumni include graduates from Mexico, Uganda, and Chicago neighborhoods who completed programs in business, psychology, computer sciences, respiratory therapy, and social work.
