Established in 1969, Zane State College is a comprehensive community college with 30 associate-degree programs and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Academic options include business, cybersecurity, programming and web development, engineering technology, culinary arts, criminal justice, education, social work, wildlife conservation, and health programs such as medical laboratory technology, occupational therapy assistance, physical therapy assistance, radiologic technology, and respiratory care. Seven degrees are available fully online, alongside short-term information technology training and certificates.
Zane State's programs are shaped around workforce needs and employer input. Students can earn certificates that may prepare them for industry-recognized credential exams while also earning college credit toward a degree. Transfer students can use Associate of Arts and Associate of Science pathways, College Credit Plus programs, and 2+2 or 3+1 options toward bachelor's study at public and private universities.
The Zanesville campus includes the Campus Center café and dining room, study rooms, computer labs, tutoring, testing, student services, and a renovated library shared with neighboring Ohio University Zanesville. Specialized facilities include the IDEA Lab, Health Science Hall, Advanced Science and Technology Center, a digital media lab, and the Drop-in Control Module for electrical engineering students. Zane State is an open-access institution with no minimum GPA or test-score requirement; applicants generally need a high school diploma or equivalent. ACT or SAT scores may be used for course placement, with Accuplacer available when needed.
