The four-semester Master's in Materials Science and Engineering at FH Münster University of Applied Sciences covers advanced chemical, physical, and mechanical aspects of modern materials science in English. The programme provides both scientific depth and practical application, combining mandatory modules with research projects and a broad range of elective courses. The first three semesters include three compulsory modules in Solid State Physics and Semiconductors, Dielectrics and Ceramics, and Macromolecular Chemistry and Polymer Applications, each accompanied by a research project. Students select from elective modules in chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, and business administration. Examples from the chemistry electives include particle technology, coatings technology, membrane separations, aerosol and nanotechnology, and analytics of plastics and polymers. Physics electives include biomedical materials, battery production, laser materials processing, and quantum sensors. The final semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis, typically completed with research and development departments in industrial companies, followed by the final defence. The programme begins in the winter semester and is based at FH Münster University of Applied Sciences in Steinfurt, Germany.
