Dresden University of Technology

Master in Nanoelectronic Systems

Dresden, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The Master's programme in Nanoelectronic Systems at Dresden University of Technology addresses the growing complexity that comes with ongoing miniaturisation in the microelectronics industry. The programme is organised around three interconnected areas: the technologies underlying nanoelectronic systems, the design of such systems, and their applications. Overlaps between these areas are explicitly covered, and the programme goes beyond traditional scaling to include concepts described as "More than Moore" and "Beyond Moore". The programme runs over 4 semesters. The first three semesters combine coursework and laboratory sessions drawn from seven compulsory modules, including a project work module in the third semester that can take the form of an internship. A programming laboratory and a practical course focusing on technology, design, or application — chosen by the student — form part of the laboratory sessions module. Students also select elective modules to complete the programme. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis, which may be undertaken at a company or research institute. Graduates are prepared to pursue research at a university or to work in R&D departments at companies developing advanced technology. The programme is taught at Dresden University of Technology in Dresden, Germany.
