Ankara University

Bachelor in Philosophy

Ankara, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Philosophy is the study of fundamental questions concerning existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language, approached through careful argument and critical analysis rather than empirical experiment alone. Undergraduate coursework typically covers the history of philosophy from ancient to contemporary thought, along with core areas such as logic, ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, and political philosophy. Students learn to read and interpret dense philosophical texts, construct and evaluate arguments, and write clearly reasoned essays defending a position. Seminar-style discussion is a common teaching method, encouraging students to engage directly with competing viewpoints and to defend their own reasoning under scrutiny. While philosophy does not lead to a single defined profession, its graduates develop strong skills in critical thinking, writing, and argumentation that transfer to law, journalism, publishing, public policy, education, and business. Many philosophy graduates continue into graduate study, either in philosophy itself or in law, and others move into teaching at secondary or university level. This bachelor's degree in Philosophy is offered by Ankara University, in the city of Ankara, Turkey. The program is taught in English and runs for 4 years, allowing international students to study philosophy in an English-medium environment at a Turkish institution. Across the four years, students move from introductory surveys of philosophical thought toward more focused study of particular philosophers, periods, and problems.
