Philosophy is the study of fundamental questions concerning knowledge, existence, ethics, logic, and the nature of reality. Students typically move through the history of philosophy, from ancient Greek thought through medieval, modern, and contemporary schools, while also developing skills in logical reasoning, argumentation, and textual analysis. Core areas of study often include epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, political philosophy, and philosophy of science, with seminars that ask students to construct and critique arguments on questions ranging from the nature of consciousness to the foundations of moral responsibility. Because the discipline trains rigorous analytical thinking and clear written expression, graduates go on to work in law, journalism, publishing, public administration, education, and policy research, as well as further graduate study in philosophy or related humanities and social science fields. Many also find the skills transferable to consulting, human resources, and other roles that value structured problem-solving and communication. This bachelor's program in Philosophy is offered by Galatasaray University in İstanbul, Turkey, and is taught in French over four years, reflecting the university's long-standing Francophone academic tradition. Students in the program engage with French-language philosophical texts and scholarship alongside translated classical and international sources. Over the four years, the curriculum typically builds from introductory surveys of philosophical history toward specialized seminars and independent research, preparing graduates for both academic and professional paths that depend on careful reasoning and clear argumentation.
