Master in Applied Bioscience Add On

At Technological University of the Shannon, tuition fees are 12,000 EUR per year.

Biological systems underpin our food security, environmental health, and the future of sustainable production. This one-year add-on honours degree is designed for students who wish to advance their technical expertise in the agricultural, biotechnological, and food sectors. By bridging the gap between theoretical science and practical application, the programme equips graduates with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of modern bioscience industries.

Specialised Industry Focus

The curriculum emphasizes the science behind nationally vital sectors, including beef, dairy, and poultry production, while grounding students in modern techniques. You will explore:

• Agricultural biotechnology and advanced cell biology.
• Sustainable herd management and land use strategies.
• Food safety, processing, and molecular microbiology.
• Analytical toxicology and contemporary research methodologies.

Delivered on the Athlone campus, the programme features small class sizes that encourage close collaboration with academic staff and industry guest speakers. A significant component of the year is the independent research project, where students refine their laboratory skills and critical thinking by investigating a specific, real-world issue under professional supervision.
