Applied Health and Wellness Coaching

The module Fundamentals of Coaching and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviours starts in September and introduces a shift from an expert-driven model to a coaching approach, covering nutrition, physical activity and the ethics of health coaching. The programme runs for one year on a part-time, blended basis and is divided into three mandatory modules – Fundamentals, Foundations and Advanced Theory and Practice – each worth ten credits and delivered through online lectures (3-5 pm) and workshops (9 am-5 pm). Students progress from theory and relational skills in the first semester to practical client coaching and advanced behavioural change techniques in the final module, accumulating a total of thirty credits. The course is aimed at qualified health and fitness professionals, including nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, personal trainers and teachers, who wish to develop evidence-based coaching skills for use in clinical or community settings.
