    About the Program

The Master of Applied Politics prepares graduates for careers in public policy, government, non-profits, and advocacy. The program covers policy analysis, public opinion, electoral systems, and international relations. Students gain practical skills in survey design, media analysis, and problem solving at home and abroad. Graduates take on roles in research, advisory work, and program evaluation across different sectors.

The one-year program offers two options: coursework only or a major research project. Coursework includes eight half-credit courses. The research path requires six half-credit courses plus a 25- to 50-page project. A research practicum is completed with local governments, community groups, or elected officials. Workshops are led by a former cabinet minister. Teaching assistant positions help build leadership and communication skills.

Admission requires a four-year honours degree in political science or a related field with a B average. Applicants must submit a statement of interest, writing sample, and letters of reference. The program begins in September. It can be completed in eight or twelve months full time, or part time. Graduates go on to work in policy, research, and public service.
