Architecture and Urban Planning is a bachelor's degree program at Vistula University, based in Warszawa, Poland, running 4 years, or 8 semesters, and taught in English. The programme is described as four-year engineering studies open to candidates of great versatility, combining strict sciences, humanities, and art. Over the course of study, students gain interdisciplinary knowledge in architecture, urban planning, and art, learning how to shape their environment and change space to make it more beautiful and more functional, as well as how to design modern buildings and cities that are friendly and supportive of everyday life. The programme presents itself as suited to students with creativity who want to turn artistic visions into reality, teaching the technical aspects of the architectural profession, the principles of spatial composition, and how to shape the form and function of buildings, and how to present design visions using computer techniques. Students also study the history of how towns have been built, along with the principles behind their spatial, functional, communication, and ecological structure, together with good practices in urban space management. The programme is described as practical, teaching students the art of designing and familiarizing them with relevant design software. Architecture as a discipline combines technical, artistic, and planning knowledge to design buildings and urban environments. Graduates of engineering-focused architecture programmes typically move into architectural offices, urban planning consultancies, or construction and real estate roles, or continue into further architectural study. Applicants need a GPA over 60 percent, an educational gap of no longer than 4 years, a high school diploma, and a language certificate equivalent to B2 level, such as IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 72, or TOEIC 700; those without a certificate can instead take the Pipplet English test for 24 euros.
