Physical Education and Sports Science Certificate

The University of Inland Norway offers an Årsstudium i kroppsøving og idrettsfag. This is a one-year certificate or diploma program. It focuses on physical activity for children and youth. Students gain practical and theoretical knowledge. They learn to facilitate meaningful movement experiences.

Programme Details

The program provides insight into how to support children and young people's learning in physical education and sports. Topics include pedagogy, training science, and movement theory. Practical activities cover swimming, outdoor life, ball games, orienteering, and winter sports. The study is full-time and awards 60 study points. Instruction is in Norwegian (NO). It starts in August. The tuition is a semester fee.

Admission Requirements

General university admission requirements are needed. Alternatively, admission may be possible based on prior learning and experience. The ordinary application deadline is April 15. For those applying based on prior learning, the deadline is March 1. A police certificate is required for this study.

Future Opportunities

This program provides foundational skills for working with physical activity in various sectors. Graduates can apply directly to the second year of the Bachelor's program in Teacher Education for grades 1-13, focusing on physical education and sports. It can also count towards a bachelor's degree. There is no opportunity for study abroad within this one-year program.
