How do power, authority, and justice shape our global and local realities? The Arts Joint Honours (Politics) programme invites you to explore these fundamental questions by combining politics with a second discipline of your choice. You will gain a multifaceted perspective on the forces that define contemporary society, from international development and state policy to the intricacies of security, conflict, and peacebuilding.

This degree is designed for students who want to move beyond surface-level observations to critically engage with the mechanisms of governance and human organization. Whether you are interested in the ethics of climate change, the complexities of foreign policy, or the evolution of human rights, this programme provides the analytical tools to understand and influence the world.

Distinctive Features

• Flexible Joint Honours Structure: You will pair Politics with another subject—such as Geography, History, Law, or World Religions and Theology—allowing you to tailor your studies to your specific intellectual interests.
• Optional INTRA Placement: You can apply for a year-long, professional work placement in your third year, bridging the gap between theoretical study and real-world application.
• International Opportunities: Extend your three-year degree to four years by spending a year studying abroad, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Joint Honours) International.
