Master in Assistant Training

At University of Antwerp, tuition fees are 5,800 USD per year; applications for the Sep 2027 intake are open until Aug 31, 2027.

Participants in this programme go on to become more effective educators, gaining the confidence and practical skills necessary to lead classroom discussions, manage student groups, and provide high-quality academic feedback. Designed for those in supporting teaching roles, the programme acts as a bridge to more advanced academic responsibilities, including potential recognition within doctoral study paths.

A Flexible, Thematic Approach

Rather than a rigid curriculum, this professionalization track allows you to tailor your development to the specific demands of your current teaching duties. You choose which modules to attend, ensuring that every hour of training is directly relevant to your daily work with students. The programme is highly modular, focusing on core competencies like:

• Activating students: Techniques to boost engagement in laboratory or seminar settings.
• Feedback strategies: Best practices for providing constructive, actionable critique.
• Classroom management: Building confidence in front of groups and maintaining productive learning environments.
• Assessment: Navigating the complexities of grading and evaluation.

By completing at least six thematic modules—each consisting of a three-hour contact session and a practical application assignment—participants earn a formal certificate of educational professionalization. This flexible structure allows staff to balance their teaching and research commitments over multiple academic years.
