The BA (Applied Social Studies) is a one-year progression programme designed for candidates who have already attained the requisite standard in a Level 7 professional programme, including supervised fieldwork practice, in community development, youth work, social care, or a related area. This course is ideal for individuals who have achieved a second-class honours or a “merit” grade in a relevant Diploma, National Diploma or Ordinary Degree award, with a requirement of at least 120 ECTS credits. Our distinctive programme focuses on advanced study in fields such as Professional Practitioner Development, Irish and European Social Policy, Social Inequalities and Social Change, Environment, Sustainability and Social Justice, Research Skills for Policy and Practice, and Interagency and Multi-Professional Collaboration and Partnership. Graduates are equipped to either progress in a professional field or pursue postgraduate training in social work, community development, or youth work.
