Berlin, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The BA Graphic Design and Visual Communication at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences is a 6-semester English-language programme that trains students in the full workflow of graphic design, from research and ideation to technical implementation. Students work across a range of media including apps, animations, posters, books, magazines, brand identities, and websites, and develop the ability to communicate design ideas across shifting contexts. The first year establishes foundations in design, typography, photography, layout, and web design, alongside a historical framework. The second year builds strategic and intercultural knowledge, covers interaction design and motion graphics, and develops a theoretical understanding of the discipline. In the third year, students work on interdisciplinary design projects with peers from other programmes, complete an internship, and develop research skills. The final semester is devoted to a Bachelor's thesis and a Bachelor's design project on a topic of the student's own choice. The programme starts in the winter semester and is based at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences in Berlin.
