In the third semester of the programme, students take a module on 'Sportpsychologie' which involves investigating the psychology of sports, the mental aspects of performance, as well as the psychological impacts of injuries. A semester abroad or internship is also integrated into the fifth semester of the programme.

The programme is accredited by the Accreditation Council and has partnerships with local sport-related businesses and organisations, including the Borussia Dortmund football club, which offers scholarships and guest lectures to students. Consequently, the programme offers students the chance to apply their learning in a real world environment, whilst also building a professional network.
